anaphylactic shock 過敏性休克     (in English and Chinese 中英文)

by Joe Hing Kwok Chu    按此看中文。

Anaphylactic shock occurs when a body sensitive to allergens reacts to exposure to a foreign substance, suddenly develops whole body inflammation, causing a sharp drop in blood pressure, urticaria (hives), and breathing difficulty.  Common allergens are bee venom, dust mites, pollens, certain drugs, peanuts or other vegetations, plasma, yeast, and latex.  The reaction of low blood pressure may be fatal if emergency treatment, including epinephrine injections, is not given immediately. Anti-histamine drugs are usually used.

It is also called anaphylaxis.

People with shenyangxu (kidney yang deficient) condition are more susceptible to anaphylactic shock.
