mainly produced in Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Shanxi, Gansu provinces, also produced in Zhejiang, Sichuan, Shandong, Anhui, Jianxi provinces.

主產於河南，湖北，湖南，山西，甘肅等地。此外，浙江，四川，山東，安徽，江西等地亦產。

Medical functions:

藥理﹕

inhibits hair fungal infection (Tinea Capitis).

ability to tolerate lack of oxygen, improves metabolism of oxygen in the brain. [1]

對毛髮癬菌有抑制作用。

耐缺氧能力，改善腦部氧化代謝。【1】

Actions & Indications:

主治﹕

for liver-kidney yin deficient type of weak loin and knees, gu zheng lao re, night sweating, spermatorrhea, dizziness, blurry vision. Usually being used with gou qi zi, black bean.

for heat in liver channel with cataract, use chu shi zi and make into powder. Mix with honey water. Use as tea.

對於肝腎陰虚肝腎虛的腰膝酸軟，骨蒸勞熱，盜汗遺精，頭暈目昏等症，常與枸杞子，黑豆配伍。
凡肝經有熱，目生翳障之症，以楮實子單味研末，蜜湯調下。如楮實散（《仁齋直指方》）。
若風熱上攻，目翳流淚，眼目昏花，則以本品配荊芥穗，地骨皮，煉蜜丸，米湯調服。
水腫脹滿。本品入腎經，補腎陰，助生腎氣，對氣化不利所致水液停滯之臌脹，小便不利等症，與丁香，茯苓相配，研細末，用楮實浸膏為丸，服至小便清利，如楮實子丸（《素問病機氣宜保命集》）。
外用搗敷，還可治癰疽金瘡。因本品甘寒，能清熱解毒，去腐生肌。

Chemical ingredients:

化學成份﹕

Fruit contains saponin 0.51%, vitamin B and fat. Seed contains 31.7% of oil. In the oil, it contains non-saponin 2.67%. saturated fat 9%, oleic acid 15%, inolenic acid 76%.

果實含皂甙 (0.51%)，維生素B及油脂。種子含油 31.7%，油中含非皂化物 2.67%，飽和脂肪酸 9.0%，油酸15.0%，亞油酸 76.0%。

Daly Dosage:

每日用量﹕

煎服，6～9g，或入丸，散。外用搗敷。

This herb when combined with shu di huang, can be used for treating chronic hepatitis. [2]

This herb when combined with tu si zi, fu ling, can be used for treating old age cataract. [4]

This herb when combined with kidney tonic herb and yang enhancing herbs, can be used effectively for treating infertility of men. [4]

本品與熟地黃等配伍，可治療慢性肝炎[2]

本品與菟絲子，茯苓等配伍，可治療老年性白內障 [3]

本品與其他補腎壯陽藥配伍治療男性不育症有效 [4]

Toxicity & Cautions:

毒素與禁忌﹕

Use with care in weak and cold syndrome.
