tie luo 鐵落

Source of tie luo: when raw iron is heated red hot, the oxidized outer layer falls off when being pounded. The falling off particles is call tie luo.

rust on iron is called tie xiu	鏽生鐵器上者，名鐵鏽。
those from soaking with salted vinegar is called tie hua.	鹽醋浸出者，名鐵華。

For: stabilizing mood, as sedative, blood tonic.

Being used in treating schizophrenia, mania, hallucination caused by high fever, palpitation and fright, rheumatoid arthritis, swelling in boils, and anemia.

平肝鎮驚，解毒斂瘡，補血。主治癲狂，熱病譫妄，心悸易驚，風濕痺痛，瘡瘍腫毒，貧血。

禁忌﹕

not compatible with zao jiao. According to Li Shi Zhen: "Most tonic herbs are not compatible with tie luo."

畏皂角。李時珍曰：補腎藥多忌之。

sheng tie luo yin (source: yixue xin yu) Composition: tian men dong (remove core), mai dong (remove core), bei mu 9 g, nan xing, ju hong, yuan zhi, shi chuang pu, lian qiao, fu ling, fu shen, 3 g each, xuan shen, gou teng, dan shen, 4.5g, each, zhu sha (HgS) 0.9 g, tie luo 30 g

生鐵落飲《醫學心語》

【功能主治】鎮心安神，清熱化痰。治癲、狂、癇。

【處方】天門冬（去心），麥冬（去心），貝母各 9克，膽南星，橘紅，遠志，石菖蒲，連翹，茯苓，茯神，各3克，玄參，鉤藤，丹參各 4.5克，辰砂 0.9克，生鐵落 30克（另包）。

【用法用量】用生鐵落煎熬三小時，取此水煎藥服。服後安神靜睡，不可驚駭叫醒，犯之則病復作，難乎為力。
