Name of formula: chai hu shu gan tang

The syndrome includes:

Primary: fullness and pain in the chest; depressed mood.

Secondary: tightness and discomfort in the chest area, frequent sighing, lack of appetite, difficulty in ejaculation during intercourse, premature ejaculation, impotence (male), dislike talking, pain before and during menses (female), fullness in the breasts or breasts with lumps, pale tongue with thick fur, tight pulse.

Application: For flatulence, pain in rib cage area, fever and chill, chronic hepatitis, gall bladder diseases, chronic entertitis, ulcer, cystic mastitis.

Ingredients: chen pi  6 g,   chai hu 8 g, zhi ke 9 g,   xiang fu zi 9 g,  chuan xiong 10 g,  bai shao 10 g,   gan cao 5 g.

Make into decoction.

Blood deficient: add dang gui Blood stasis, insomnia, restlessness﹕add yan huo suo Difficulty in urination﹕add  chuan lian zi Bad digestion﹕add  yu jin

Chai hu shu gan tang can inhibit PDE5;  thus it may be an effective treatment for chronic prostatitis or  erctile dysfunction.

　Note:  zhi ke may increase blood pressure. Large amount may not be suitable for those with hypertension.

【方名】柴胡疏肝湯《 證治準繩 引 醫藥統旨》

主要症狀﹕

胸脅脹痛痛或串痛，情志抑鬱。

次証：胸悶不舒，常嘆息，食慾不振，月經不調，經期腹痛，乳脹或結塊，舌淡苔薄, 性交時不能射精，陽萎, 早泄﹐ 寡言少歡，性慾低下﹐ 脉弦。

【功效】肝氣郁滯證。疏肝行氣，和血止痛。

【主治﹐】主治脘腹脹滿，脈弦 ﹐脅痛疼痛，寒熱往熱。用於慢性肝炎 ，膽病，慢性胃炎，潰瘍病，肋間神經痛，胃神經官能症，乳腺小葉增生和囊性增生病， 慢性前列腺炎。

【組成】

陳皮 6 g,  柴 胡  8 g,  枳殼 9 g,  香附子 9 g,  川芎10 g,  白 芍 10 g,   甘草 5 g.

 水煎服。

加減：

血虛﹕加 當歸

血淤﹐失眠﹐不安﹕加 延胡索

小便不利﹕加 川 楝 子

消化不良﹕加  鬱金

註﹕枳 殼 有生壓作用。大劑量可能對有血壓高者不適用。

附方

方名 ﹕ 四物逍遙湯。

主治：肝鬱氣滯。利氣調經。閉經。

組 成 ﹔

 柴 胡 9 克，當 歸 9克，川芎 9克，香 附 9克，延胡索 9克，桃仁 9克，

紅花 9克，  赤芍12克，生 地黃12克，青皮 6克。

水煎服，每日1劑，日服2次。
