For palpitation, vexation, insomnia:

Prescription: lian zi, fu ling﹐ suan zao ren﹐ bai zi ren

Boil with water and use as tea.

For shenxu (kidney deficient) with spermatorrhea; excessive bleeding not during menses; vaginal discharge:

Prescription:lian zi, sha wan ji li, tu si zi, qian shi, shan yao, mu li.

Boil with water and use as tea.

For pixu (spleen deficient) with chronic diarrhea:

Prescription: lian zi, bai zhu, fu ling, huai shan yao

Boil with water and use as tea.

Name of Formula: qing xin lian zi yin (he ji ju fang)

Application: For spermatorrhea, gonorrhea, diabetes, massive or incessant extramenstral vaginal bleeding with yinxu (yin deficient) and qixu (qi deficient) conditions:

Composition:shi lian zi, ren shen, fu ling, huang qi, gan cao, mai dong, huang qin, di gu pi, che qian zi.

方名：清心蓮子飲《和劑局方》

主治：氣虛與陰虛，而遺精，淋濁，消渴，以及婦人血崩﹐帶下等症。

組成：石蓮子﹐人參﹐茯苓，黃耆﹐甘草, 麥冬 ﹐黃芩﹐地骨皮，車前子

do not use in cases of constipation.

便秘忌用。

shi lian zi: also called tian lian zi (sweet lotus seeds). They are collected when the pods are about to crack open. (the skins of lian zi herb have been removed while the skins of shi lian zi are not removed); or, when lian zi (lotus seeds) are ripe and fall into the bottom of the pond. After certain period of time, they turn black and hard like stone. Shi lian zi is being used in chronic diarrhea. the dosage is 4 to 12 grams, decoction.

Do not pre-soak lian zi before cooking or it will be not be soft after cooking.

石蓮子：又叫甜石蓮。為成熟蓮子在蓮蓬將裂開時採集者（蓮子去果皮﹐石蓮子不去果皮）或蓮子成熟後 ﹐掉下泥塘後 ﹐日久變黑 ﹐堅硬如石頭。用於噤口痢﹐久痢﹐久瀉等症。一般用量為 4 克至 12 克。入煎劑。

煮蓮子不要先浸泡。不先浸泡較容易煮爛。
